According to Next Web, Facebook confirmed that it was working on a new feature called ‘Happening Now’ which will allow users to harness the power of real time updates. The new feature which has been rolled out only to a few Facebook users will let you see in real time what your friends are commenting on and “liking.”
This Twitter like feature sports a Happening Now bar which appears on the right hand side of your Facebook page. This bar displays real-time updates below the dedicated spaces for advertising letting you see how your friends are interacting with one another in real time. The best thing is, you don’t even need to leave the page to do that! There does seems to be a small problem with this new feature; the problem of redundancy. Information that appears in the News Feed also pops up in the Happening Now feed, but we are sure Facebook is going to fix that soon.
Since Facebook is still in the testing phase with this feature, it will take quite some time for us to actually use it. Meanwhile, why don’t we discuss how it is going to help your business? First off, you should know that this new feature is going to have great impact on functions such as Check-Ins, which will appear instantly in the Happening Now bar in real time. Though this has spurred quite a lot of negative comments from users, you can still use it for your business’s benefit.
